Beginning 'Beginning Scientific Computing'

Travis Johnson

This is where the document Beginning 'Beginning Scientific Computing' lives. The goal is to serve as an introduction to topics needed for the AMATH301 course at the University of Washington. In particular, it will cover the basic matrix theory, Taylor series, and other topics to help you succeed in this course.

So far, this is a work in progress. Please forgive the mess and the errors.
Also, in the (somewhat changed) words of Professor Deconinck's AMATH 402 Notes:
These are notes for Amath 301: Beginning Scientific Computing. This is the first year these notes are typed up, thus it is guaranteed that these notes are full of mistakes of all kinds, both innocent and unforgivable. Please point out these mistakes to me so they may be corrected for the benefit of your successors. If you think that a different phrasing of something would result in better understanding, please let me know.
These notes are not meant to supplant the excellent notes by J.N. Kutz used for this course, but to fill in some material you might have missed.
